Причината този проект да се забави толкова е само една: батериите. Оказа се доста проблематична част, както винаги е била за електромобилите. Всъщност именно батериите са спънката елетромобилите да не навлязат масово. Последните 1-2 години тези неща драматично се промениха. Има голям пробив в технологиите, а и цената започна да става малко по-нормална. Такава, че човек като тегли чертата на разходите наистина да си струва да кара електромобил. Все още достъпа до тези нови технологии за обикновения човек е труден. Оловните батерии вече са отживелица и в никой по-сериозен проект не се споменават. Аз също за сега тотално ги отписвам от плановете си. През тези месеци направих безброй запитвания до компании, който предлагат батерии. Изводът, който си направих от всичките проведени разговори и кореспонденции е малко смущаващ. Много трудно се работи с Европейски фирми! Малко по-добра е комуникацията с американските компании. Истината е, че най-добре се работи и комуникира с Китайците. Докато 80% от европейските и американските фирми изобщо не си направиха труда да отговорят на запитванията ми, то този процент при китайските фирми е 0%. След година проучване установих, че най-добрите батерии за моя проект са продуктите на A123, но достъпът до техните нови prismatic клетки е почти невъзможен. Не, че не ги произвеждат, произвеждат ги, но са предназначени за големите автомобилни корпорации, с който подписаха договори и е почти невъзможно човек или малка фирма да се сдобие с тях. Само няколко човека в света са успели по неведоми пътища да се снабдят с количества от тях, но и те имат доста малко бройки, което е недостатъчно за да се събере добър комплект. След упорито търсене успях да се свържа с китайски търговец, който намери един друг модел на A123 (8 ah c1), за сега ще ми свърши работа. След няколко дни чакам няколко бройки за тестове и ако всичко е нормално ще изградя захранващия пакет с тези А123 батерии. Последното звено от необходимите ми компоненти, за да започна усилена работа. Очаквайте скоро началото на финалната права :)

Disassemble and measuring

In the past few days, I began to remove parts that I find “unneeded” for my car.

Then I tried to measure everything that I took off from the car, and that I had no intent of returning in it.

Here are the weights:

15 kg – exhaust system
1 kg – water reservoirs and tubes of the cooling system
6 kg – radiator with fan
9.5 kg – an empty tank
165 kg – a full equipped engine and gear box
Total: 196.5 kg

Soon I’m also going to take off the rear axle because I want to change it with one from VW synch. I’m also planning to put rear differential from Audi Quattro with differential lock. My idea is to make the car with entirly rear-wheel drive.

The motor has been found!

Quite unexpectedly, I’ve made myself a birthday present It’s the new model of an 11″ motor Kostov.

This is a more powerful motor than the one that I had in mind at the begging.

The motor that I wanted to use was a 22 KW at 144 V. And now I have a rated 35 KW at 168 V. I’ve heightened a bit my expectations….. The more, the better

I’d like to express my gratitude to Mr. Plamen Nakeff from ELPROM-EMS for his assistance during the purchase of the motor and special thanks also to TInko from the VW Club for his navigation!

Now I have to choose IGBT models for the controller. If there’s somebody who understands these kind devices, I’ll be very grateful if he contacts me! I’ve focused on the U series by Fuji: http://www.fujisemiconductor.com/html/table/91200/91227.htm

What’s new?

There was some kind of standstill during the winter season.
To begin with, I’ve ordered 2 very interesting books from Amazon.com
I’ve posted some up-to-date pictures to stimulate you!
This is a Curtis 1221-7405 400 А controller on 120V… or at least it was All the Mosfet (BUZ 30A) transistors have burnt. I found it in Stamboliiski town in some junkyard. It’s quite impossible to fix it, but also it’s too small for my purposes. Apparently here we have an overloading process that lead to the current state of the transistors. If even one transistor should burn out, all others will follow the example. It’s interesting to know who it’s made. They used lots of electrical condensers in order to increase the area through which the electricity will flow, and that’s a foxy trick. There’s no problem with putting only one capacitor, but its pinouts won’t let enough electricity pass. The pinouts of the capacitor are put directly on the power armature and this blocks all the inductance. You can see a scheme of the controller here:

Monbat

Like I said in the introduction of this blog, I’ll try to use only Bulgarian parts for this project. I decided to use the semi-traction batteries of Monbat. The advantages and disadvantages of the various types of batteries will be discussed in different section. Now I’d like to present you the model of Monbat that I chose – “Megalight Power”. These batteries are produced according to the AMG technology. They have a small cycle of charge of the discharge (300), but they are light and they have great current electricity, which is a big plus for every sport EV.

ELPROM-EMS

I made a small research of the Bulgarian marked of EV and then I chose the electric motors of ELPROM-EMS. The most simple to control and at good price are also the electric engines with permanent electricity.

The model I chose has the following features:

· Working voltage 144V

· Nominal power 22 kw

· Nominal revolutions 4000 prm

This model was successfully used in many other projects like this one. Some of these projects can be seen on this website: www.evalbum.com

Why VW Jetta? It’s just that from many years one of my favourite sites is www.vwclub.bg/forum, so there’s no chance that I’ll be using any other car :) Yes… I also have VW Golf. Yes, it’s one of those old, square and beautiful cars :P
